May 30, 2018 – As the spring programs come to a close, we are now have OPEN REGISTRATION for our summer programs, including an Adult Sailing Course as well as Teen Sailing. Our competitive teams will continue to sail and will be participating in regattas throughout the summer, but those 13 and up who wish to learn to sail are also welcome to participate in the summer programs!

May 12, 2018 – We are proud to announce that our Southwestern Sailing Team won 1ST PLACE at the New York State Championships held in Buffalo, NY today. Congratulations to our team for securing another state win!

May 7th, 2018 – Southwestern Sailing team placed 5th and 6th place at The Foundry over the weekend in Cleveland, Ohio.

April 23, 2018 – Yesterday, CLCSF hosted the Chautauqua Invite at Lakewood Beach where 11 team from the western New York area came to compete. Our very own Southwestern Central team won 1st overall with both A and B Division boats also placing 1st in their division. It was a beautiful spring day and we appreciate everyone who came out to support our high school sailors and enjoy seeing the boats on the water.

Apr 14, 2018 – The Southwestern High School Sailing Team is currently competing at Christchurch, Virginia this weekend for the MASSA Gold National Championship! Go Team! Wishing you the best of luck out there on the water today and tomorrow, and a safe trip home.

Apr 11, 2018 – Our Adult Sailing Course will be starting up next week on Tuesday, April 17th! This course is in conjunction with Jamestown Commnunity College, so if you are interested in the course, please check the JCC page link for more information and how to sign up. If you’re a litter nervous about learning to sail in this weather, don’t worry, the first half of the course is held in a classroom setting. You’ll take your first sail in May when the weather is warmer.

Apr 9, 2018 – We have our boats in the water! High School practices have officially started for our competing teams. The boats and practices are currently located down in Celeron til we move the docks back to their main location at Lakewood Beach. 

Feb 13, 2018 – CLCSF Meeting Set for March 14th – The Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation is holding an information and signup meeting for the 2018 High School Sailing Teams.  The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. Wedsnesday, March 14th, at the auditorium above the Village Clerk’s Office, located at 20 West Summit Street in Lakewood. This meeting is for prospective team members, boys and girls (grades 7-12) and their parents/guardians. Students from all area schools are welcome to attend.  Also in attendance will be returning team members and parents. The team head coach will review the overall program and specifics for the spring season.. Preregistration discounts available prior to first day of practice. Pizza and drinks will be freely available to everyone in attendance.

ADULT LEARN TO SAIL COURSE -- BEGINS JUNE 11TH

Sailing is a lifetime sport! You are never too old to start, or old enough to stop; sailing is a sport to be enjoyed throughout life. The Chautauqua Lake Community Sailing Foundation in cooperation with the Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club is offering a special learn to sail program this summer for all adult members of CLYC.

Our 8-week course combines hours of on-the-water learning mixed with the dockside instruction, all within the framework of a FUN, social setting. Our curriculum focuses on the theory of sailing, terminology, rigging and de-rigging, personal safety, knots, safety on the dock and on the water, points of sail, small boat handling, right-of-way rules, capsize and man overboard procedures, and teamwork.

Classes are taught aboard our fixed keel Precision 18’s and our monohull dinghy Club 420s. Tuition fees include US Sailing textbook. Class size limited to 30 Adults.

Monday and Wednesday Evening 6:30 till 8:30 | June 11 - July 30 | Tuition: $375.00
