LATEST NEWS

Nov 10, 2018 – The Fall sailing season has come to a close with the arrival of snow and winter weather. We are hard at work planning some new exciting programs for the upcoming spring season. Please check back as we  begin to release information on those projects around February!

As always, for information about any of our programs, or general questions, please contact us at sail_clcsf@gmail.com at any time.

Oct 23, 2018 – Southwestern Team traveled to Fort Monroe, Virginia over the weekend to compete in the MASSA Gold Fall Fleet Racing Championships. Weather conditions cut the 2 day regatta short, and Southwestern secured a solid 10th place out of 18 teams from the 4 mid-Atlantic states representing all 5 MASSA leagues. It was a great experience, one that Southwestern has qualified for every season since they began competing in 2015.

Oct 14, 2018 –  CLCSF hosted the annual Chautauqua Lake Invite at Lakewood Beach where 12 local area teams, including Buffalo and Rochester, competed. Southwestern Team easily secured 1st place overall, crushing the competition with a 29 point spread. Way to go team!

Sept 23, 2018 – Southwestern traveled to Buffalo Yacht Club on Saturday to compete in the NYISA-NW League Qualifier.  This race was against other teams in our local NY state distric and the top 2 teams are chosen to move forward to compete in MASSA Gold Fleet Racing Champs in Fort Monroe, Virgina.  Southwestern team took 1st place by a large margin and will be traveling to Virginia on October 20th and 21st! Congrats to the strong efforts of our team!

Sept 13, 2018 – We will be holding an information meeting for the 2018 High School Sailing Program today.  The meeting is at 6:00 p.m. at the auditorium above the Village Clerk’s Office, located at 20 West Summit Street in Lakewood. This meeting is for prospective team members, boys and girls (grades 7-12) and their parents/guardians. Students from all area schools are welcome to attend.  Also in attendance will be returning team members and parents. The team head coach will review the overall program and specifics for the spring season. Pizza and drinks will be freely available to everyone in attendance. Full scholarships available to all participants.

Sept 10, 2018 – The High School sailing practices have begun! We will still be accepting new sailors all season, no experience necessary. Full scholarships are available. No commitment to sign up, just come on down to one of our practices if you’re interested in seeing what it’s all about and giving the boats a try. All students currently in local area high schools are welcome.

Sept 5, 2018 – The Adult Learn to Sail class has begun! Also, if you’d like to sail but don’t need as much instruction, we offer Tuesday and Thursday sailing from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on either the Z420 or Precision 185, just come on down!
